This is it!

We went to see the venue on Sunday and it was amazing. It is looking like Krucker's is the place for us. The man in charge was so accommodating and the look fits or theme to a T. The ceremony site was sooo beautiful. It was a huge weeping willow tree between two ponds and a glade of evergreen trees. This is a picture from their website www.Kruckers.com.
I also contacted the carnival supply rental place today and the things we need are so much more affordable than I anticipated. I think we'll be okay. I'll post about the awesome rentals we will be getting next time.

What do you see as being a necessity for a county fair themed wedding?

Invitations!!!

Today Micco and I sat at home (I was sick and didn't go to work) and began planning our wedding invitation. We are thinking about doing an invitation that looks like a flyer for a county fair. This is one of the pictures that we are using for inspiration. We figure that we'll also print some full sized ones to post on trees around the venue.

I mainly just LOVE how much Micco is really enjoying taking care of this kind of stuff. I love that he is so interested and really wants to be involved. How lucky am I?

Should we change it to 1970s retro county fair?

We also have a second appointment for Sunday at a place called the Baker Camp at Lake Sebago. It will probably be A LOT cheaper but I'm sure the fees for all the things we would need to rent would be quite high. But seriously isn't this dining hall sweet?

Some Pig...

The budget is already completely out of hand. Micco has been making me feel better about it. My mom has also stepped up to calm my nerves. I really just need to find the venue, so that I have a concrete cost to work around.

On a lighter note. Micco has decided to paint a picture on wood for people to pose in and take pictures.
He is going to paint a fat farmer holding a prize pig. Both the farmer and pig will have face cutouts. I love that. It totally expands on the theme and sticks to who Micco is and shows off his talent. He had better get started though because he is meticulous!

Garlands, Garlands, Everywhere

I love garlands. I think that they are so fun and expressive. If they are done in the right colors they can look really classy rather than like a grand opening. I also love the papel picado but I feel like they would be a bit flimsy.
I like the idea of finding fabric and sewing my own garlands. I think if done right they can add a sweetness and sophistication to the decor.

Are these sewn paper garlands?? I love how simple they look. They are kind of haphazard. However, I don't think they are as sweet.

Is it too early to start buying fabric to make these? Or should I lock down a venue first?

I am not a country girl but...

I don't remember where I got this image because I pulled it as soon as I saw it and stuck it in my "Wedding Inspiration" file. So if you know where it's from please let me know. I actually love this image so much that it made it from the wedding inspiration file into the "Limited Wedding Inspiration" file. That's how in it that I am. I have refined my inspiration folder.
What I LOVE about this picture is the way the tables surround the dance floor. And can I just say that I am obsessed with the bales of hay! The globes floating over the dance floor are precious. The only thing that I would want to add is a string of festoon lights strung around the perimeter of the dance floor. These lights would just make it perfect.

We are going this weekend to look at a site for the wedding. This is Krucker's in Pomona, New York. We are going to get married in our home county. Mainly, because that is where all of our guests are. Also, there is something so familiar and sweet about getting married in your home town.
The red and white striped tables would further our theme so well. I love the festivity of them. Don't they just scream county fair? The deal breaker on Krucker's is if they won't compromise because my vision is very clear and I know exactly what I want. Also, Krucker's is more of a picnic/reunion spot so the price includes feeding you all day. Now, I love my family but I'm not hosting an all day hang out. It will be one meal with an awesome fair food cocktail hour. Hopefully they bend to the combined will of me, Micco and my haggling, browbeating parents. We needed to call in the big guns!
